Expertise: Insurance Company Taxation

Brion specializes in international tax matters, including those involving U.S. income tax treaties, dual consolidated losses, and the Federal premium excise tax. His practice also includes most other aspects of insurance company taxation. He has represented clients in controversy matters at both the Exam and Appeals level of the Internal Revenue Service. Before he joined the firm as a partner in 2012, Brion spent over five years on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation developing and evaluating Federal tax legislative proposals, particularly in the international area. He began his career in private practice at an international firm based in Washington, D.C., where he represented clients on a wide range of tax controversy and tax planning matters.
